Darshan Dave vs Ambanis - A behavioural guide for un-artistic non film people , .......

I am not Amitabh Bachchan or Shahrukh Khan , I know , I am Darshan Dave and believe you me I am as happy being myself as you are being you.....

khud ka project banata to hai par usse faayda kya hota hai ?, kitna kama leta hai usse ? , serials mein dikh kyun nahi raha ?, kaam nahin mil raha kya ? wapas kyun nahin aa jata apne home town ?.... mom has to answer such questions when I am locked in my studio learning and creating things for months ......and that too for a guy who has successfully worked in this industry for more than 15 years till date ...... I can imagine what others go through ......

This is not how industry works plz understand , our work is not how potatoes or cars or flats are sold for margins and profits , it is an inherent skill, several times I have seen several people from other walks of life getting inspired by artists , hiring teachers for their children for dance or singing or guitar and eventually those guitars and dancing shoes lie on the rack for ever.....it's not that easy , you all must have experienced ....., it is not a "Munaafe ka dhanda " for which you will buy talent in whole sale and sell it to the industry with some profit ..... we don't sit on the same chair all our lives , we don't follow orders , we don't walk on streets without getting noticed , people buy tickets to watch artists on stage and theatres , they buy subscriptions to watch us on TV , they are kind enough to request us for photographs and our teachers , all relatives and neighbours watch and remember us all the time by god's grace ..... BUT yes we don't know when and for how much our next potato will sell ....... 

Since there are no exams , papers , promotions or targets , the only thing that we have to do in our profession is ......keep loving our work..... it's people's job to sell you ..... so never ask an artist , to kya mil jata hai itni mehnat karke ,..artist ka kaam dukaan kholna nahin sirf create karna hai , dukaan apne aap chal nikalti hai agar aapki bhasha mein samjhaun to , humein har maal ki MRP yaad nahin rakhni padti... first he has an inherent skill which happens by luck and second it's his passion which money can never buy , madness to be locked in rooms and practice and create for years without getting bogged down by monitory pressure is not everybody's cup of tea, professionals can be made , artists are born , those who are born as artists , don't try to create , it gets created and what drives you to create is love for creation not money , you compose a song because you loved the feel of the notes , it's creation , when you churn out a song for the market , you steal beg borrow and survive on those who create. 

So plz stop asking such questions out of ignorance, we earn and we can survive for long , if we don't set out with our office laptop every morning or sit in the same cabin every morning doing the same work ....we are not starving , understand had he been at the mercy of buyers every morning and sitting all his life facing almost similar clients and challenges doing the same job, he would not have had enough honesty to be able to create things that he loves making...... you don't get standing ovation , get invited as chief guests , loved unconditionally by people and have the power to affect people by your presence by having a conventional concept of security and growth..... so never talk like a paav bhaaji wala and kulfi wala ki itne ka maal kitne mein bika with an artist , all their lives I have seen painters and poets sit in their rooms and created without expecting much , Ghalib had all his life lived in poverty and today he is taught in the universities , I have seen painters in my building on the ground floor getting up early everyday and painting without knowing if it would ever sell ..... that power to be creating , putting your skill , talent and heart on a canvas and not knowing if it would ever be sold makes someone Picasso , else you end up making hoardings for ads.....you have to be a superhuman to practice practice and create locked in rooms to be able to have the impact strong enough one day that you make people jump off their seats and give you a standing ovation and for an artist that one day of glory is enough for a lifetime , don't equate it with your increments and turnovers ...... even if you could sell your potatoes more than his songs or paintings.... 

You might feel money has power, he is different , he himself has the power..... it is the same as hiring a bodyguard for safety and being powerful yourself ......, your value is your money, you have to roll in it all the time guarding and grabbing it , he will never lose his power, a businessman or corporate guy may always question what an actor or singer gets in terms of money , but had that been the primary concern he would have never become an artist, in our line you cannot do anything to earn money , that is the crux of my career till date, YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO EARN MONEY , people offer you if they can earn money through you so in our lives we don't think of earning money , we think of being that worthy , so you sound utterly ignorant when you think that we are also sitting on a footpath trying to sell our songs..... reality is we work for our satisfaction and fun , it entertains other , and if it does , other people generate money on those skills , and so do we but if we stop working for our own pleasure , this process doesn't even start ..... and we also will need to sell potatoes .... so I am not trying to demean anyone just trying to explain that there are different things that give you high ..... you can't be an artist and I don't want to be you ..... 

Once a very dear colleague Late Mr. Narendra Jha mentioned about a teacher of his town who just to poke asked him , humne to suna hai actors ko wo koi Filmfare.... oscar milta hai aapka aisa koi mamla baitha nahin kya ab tak ? ..... and Narendra ji came up with an amazing answer ...... he said " Sir har saal 400 teachers ko Bharat sarkaar best kaam ke liye award deti hai , to aapka maamla baitha nahin kya ab tak ??? " So if you are a businessman and you ask me ki kya kar raha hai ye sab gaana bajana, is sab se Shahrukbh Khan to ban nahin jaega to plz check if your surname is Ambani ...... else don't make a fool of yourself...... in one interview Urmila Matondkar had expressed that people feel like celebrities by degrading celebrities and feel special by not making skilled people feel special although they don't even understand that at least you know them to plan that you will avoid them or degrade them , they did not even know you to know you did that ....... so I , Darshan Dave , am not a celebrity but as an artist I think I would never want to have your money and your chair , as it will take me another birth to understand why you are doing what you do ..... you ask about my achievement not because you are seeing me in a bad position , you are just doing it to bring attention to what you are doing and I don't even have time to know that kyunki ab naya gaana ban raha hai .... :)

Just want to share an experience with all those who are quite enthusiastic about ayurved and alternative therapies , I might be completely wrong but it's a very long observation now , most of the time I have seen people reaching allopathy doctors in time , getting rid of the problem within a week and getting back to work , with no side effects or relapse in most cases, and on the other hand I have seen several friends suffering for years now , trying haldi , Aloe Vera , dhaniya , methi or Chinese or Japanese unknown sciences saying they are stable now but so is the disease , Baba Ramdev has done a lot for our country by making people do yoga and educating them about some alternative cures that have even worked for many ,I have seen juice of Papita leaves work in Dengu and Yoga in depression but sometimes we tend to take preventive methods as cure when he says "ye lo aur teen din mein rog gayab hone lagega " it is not always true, what I am just saying is , DON'T be rigid about allopathy if you are suffering there is no reason why you should keep exploring other therapies,when at the moment I am having a water melon that is more red than blood and sweeter than rasgulla , so not sure what it is and on every Ayurved product you will see 6 more chemicals added in the name of preservatives or added color besides the real pulp or extract so I am not sure , also recently one ayurveda doctor quoted " jo Aloe Vera polluted air , water aur mitti mein grow ho raha hai usmein kahan se medicinal value aaegi , isliye ab ye ped paudhe bhi utna faayda nahin karte " so all I want to say is never get too carried away being an allopathy critic, it is any day better to get yourself going in a week rather taking Adrak in persistent cough and later coming to know that it has become a blunder now ....... so take alternative therapies if you all want to discover other ways but I have seen cases getting worse just because people did not reach doctors in time......

We have to understand in Indian families we put Haldi , dhaniya , methi , raai , zeera , adrak , saunf , in food everyday , so it is less likely that if you exclusively take methi for two days body would react differently knowing it is medicine ....so chances of something getting eliminated in 3-4 days is less likely...I hope you know no Ayurvedic hospital will admit you if you have tuberculosis or cancer , they will take you in only once you are already stable with allopathy , we know they are not equipped to handle emergencies and have no statistical methods to diagnose ,so it is always a good idea to make a choice between reversing the biggest disease like cancer and tuberculosis in 7 days and getting back to work or spending months hoping that Alsi and Anaar will gradually work , the best time would be when allopathy doctors would incorporate Ayurveda and yoga in their therapies , we would feel more assured as to when is the right time to switch.But I don't see any point in avoiding it.The only challenge is to find the right doctor.In Allopathy if a medicine has not worked within a week , you need to get cautious. ( I am not disrespecting other sciences , what I have written is not a claim its solely out of my own experience.)

USE A GUN HOLE IF IT CAN BE FATAL TO COME OUT IN OPEN , IT'S NOT COWARDICE.

Using a gun hole is not cowardness, not shooting is .....I want to say something to all of you ,problem is never that some people create havoc in the country , problem is good people who are many more than them in number find wisdom in keeping quiet.....In forts they used to have gun holes, gun loops or Embrasures..... to hide from the enemy but to fire at them and still survive , so not coming out openly in public to oppose violent people can be wisdom but being ignorant in contributing anything to the society in a smarter way for a more human purpose, kills the very purpose of being human.I understand when few people become destroyers not many want to come out in open and oppose them as they are all are worried for their families and themselves ,it's fine , they definitely are not born to commit suicide ...... nor is it their profession to create havoc, change your name on the internet and oppose.....if you are active enough on the internet to read what I am writing, it means it matters..... you will not become famous nor will anybody know your name but you will contribute to humanity ..... 2 people in a crowd keep destroying humanity and 100 like cowards just keep quiet....LEARN TO LOOK AROUND......make eye contact with like minded people and act .....don't let those two people grow because 100 were looking down , they will become 4 and then 400 ,our neighbouring countries are an example that groups they felt make them powerful have dug up their stability .....1 person on Youtube makes a threatening video and may be he himself with other 4 fake profiles supports himself and 400 people reading it just move on thinking why to waste time or invite trouble , WRITE WITH A FAKE NAME , there is a person behind every account ..... 1 person is burning humanity imagine what if all for our country and humanity assure that we will write a comment and 400 good people bash his view, ....the culture of terror won't grow.... imagine ,2 people destroying a public property and 100 just blocking their way somehow.... internet is also a way of propagating a culture , a mindset...... it's humanity and service to yourself to express.....don't be quiet ....plz , make an

extra account sensible people , not revealing your identity if you want to take care , but express.....you are doing a very big crime good people, that you being in crores accept a society made by a few notorious elements .... when you just write a comment in any name you contribute to a system ..... don't be quiet it's inhuman...... if a person is running in your lane after commiting a crime , hide and throw a stone if you are sure he would be fatal for you .....but throw it , if 100's do that , he won't dare to come again...... I am not asking anybody to be a superhero impractically specially in a country where chief ministers hide in rat holes even after court orders,I am saying this even if it's not making my image that of a fearless Robinhood ....don't forget superheros have always hidden their identity....they have always fought terror in disguise..... 100 smart guys sitting in their chairs can kill a growing flame of terror in todays time so just contribute , open your mouth ,move your fingers , you will make all of us stronger........ you vote without any direct benefit , nobody knows your name , but you do , you have the time to vote for Big Boss paying extra charges , you watch movie trailers and comment knowing that no star might read it .....you can do the same when you see something wrong..... if you move on ,and don't care to put a single stone in the wall, the river will flood your city ..... plz it would be an amazing change to see good people on videos and in society speak up ,..... we have heard enough terror , lets silence their noisy barks with our peaceful choir.We already out number them , but our sense of responsibility , loyalty and commitment is much less than them....so we are bound to live in the society they have designed for us ...... it's your house your country , your voice is your duty , right now go wherever you felt you wanted to discourage their spreading terror and didn't realise how important was it for you to speak up...even with a fake name.....don't take risk but don't deter from expressing.Shoot through the gun loop else they will conquer your fort.

बिखरे घोंसलों के क़ामयाब परिंदे ....

हम मूर्तियों से प्यार कर पाते हैं .... प्रभु का स्वरुप अलग हो सकता है ये भी जानते हैं फिर भी। हम in fact हर उस चीज़ से प्यार कर सकते हैं जिससे हम मन ही मन बात कर सकें या जुड़ सकें और हम हर उस चीज़ से जुड़ पाते हैं जिसके लिए हमें लगता हो , इसने कुछ किया हमारे लिए , चाहे वो car हो ghar ,दरख़्त या जानवर ,हम हर उस चीज़ को पूज पाते हैं जिसने किसी भी रूप में साथ दिया हो चाहे वो चाँद सूरज हो या नदी..... इस लगाव के बिना जीवन शुरू भी नहीं हो सकता , sustain कर पाना तो बहुत दूर की बात है , human civilization यहाँ तक पहुँचता ही नहीं अगर ये attachment नहीं होता... साधू बनने को detachment की practice करने वाले भी , भगवान, सुख और मोक्ष का मोह रखते हैं। Attachment ज़रूरी है वात्सल्य के लिए , ज़िम्मेदारियाँ समझने के लिए , सुरक्षा और साथ देने के लिए और जो भी इस संसार में बन चुका है उसे सहेजने के लिए......

हिन्दुस्तान के culture में हमेशा दादा ने पोतों के लिए घर बनाया हैं , wealth जुटाई है , ये किसी भी society के sustain करने का flawless infrastructure था , लोग joint family में रहते थे क्यूंकि जुड़ाव जीवन के लिए ज़रूरी है और रहेगा ..... आज अपने परिवारों से परे होके जीने का दावा करने वाले सब extended families ढूँढ़ते फिरते हैं। जुड़ने लगते हैं आप अपने घर , गाँव , खेत , नदी , स्कूल , पहाड़ , तालाब और अपनों से ,क्यूंकि ये जुड़ाव ही आपको security , feeling of well being , joy , sense of belongingness और ज़िन्दगी में ठहराव देता है ....प्यार देता है , और जिस घर में आपका खून , पसीना और emotions दीवारों में चुने हों उसमें जीने में वही मज़ा आता है , जो माँ के हाथ का खाना खाने में और बाप के कंधे पे बैठने में आता था बचपन में ......attachment उस घर से होता है जहाँ आपने कभी कोई कील लगाई हो , जिन दीवारों के बीच आपने हर चीज़ से पहली मोहब्बत करनी सीखी हो.....

वो क्यों लौटेगा अपने घर और माँ बाप के पास जिसपे आपने पहले ज़िन्दगी के हसीं सपनों की fantacy लादकर किसी चीज़ से नहीं जुड़ने दिया ? ..... मोह हरदम उसे उस सपने का रहा जो बस कल्पना था , .....इसलिए आज भी वो दुसरे शहरों और विदेशों में अपनी हर चीज़ का मोह छोड़ के प्यार की भूख लेके एक शहर से दुसरे शहर घूम रहे हैं। पूरा गाँव और शहर छोड़ के ,छोटे छोटे clubs बनाके , या अपने गाँव के बड़े बड़े बंगले छोड़ के अपने बच्चों को pigeon holes जैसे मकान और वो culture देके जहाँ आपका बच्चा आपकी किसी चीज़ से इसलिए प्यार नहीं करता क्यूंकि अपनी किसी चीज़ से प्यार करना तो उसके बाप ने ही छोड़ दिया था .....

कल हमारे घर के पीछे वाले बंगले में किसी किराएदार ने मकान खाली किया.... उस महिला ने माँ को कई बार आवाज़ें दीं .... हमने उनसे ना के बराबर interact किया था पिछले दो सालों में , बस दिख जाते थे एक दुसरे को पीछे के portion में आते जाते और hello कह देते थे , मुझे उनकी शक्ल भी नहीं याद रहती ..... इसलिए बड़ा ताज्जुब हुआ जब उन्होंने माँ से विदा लेते हुए कहा कि हम जॉब के लिए दुसरे शहर में शिफ्ट हो रहे हैं , आपसे टच में रहूंगी। पहली बार माँ और मुझे उनका व्यहवार इतना छू गया कि एक अंजान व्यक्ति के जाने से मुझे अफ़सोस महसूस हुआ ......ये दुःख नहीं है ....... ये दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा सुख है , वास्ता , जुड़ाव , ज़्यादा पैसा मिलेगा , हमसे अब वो इस जनम में शायद नहीं मिलेंगे , वे समृद्ध रहेंगे पर वो सुख जो दीवार के दोनों ओर खड़े लोगों ने एक दुसरे को प्यार से विदाई देते वक़्त महसूस किया वो feeling उस सुख के बहुत करीब थी जिसे ढूंढ़ने को इंसान सारी ज़िन्दगी तड़पता है।हमें बताया गया है कि वो ख़ुशी शायद किसी नौकरी में मिल सकती है , दूसरे देश में या कामयाबी में ,..... हो सकता है , पर वैसी ही ख़ुशी मैंने कई बार अपनी माँ के साथ वक़्त गुज़ार कर , अपने स्कूल या अपनी नानी के पुराने घर के सामने से गुज़र कर या पापा के गुज़र जाने के बाद उनकी अलमारी से कोई चीज़ निकाल कर इस्तेमाल करने में महसूस की है , वो ही ख़ुशी किसी नाराज़ रिश्तेदार को मना कर , दिवाली पर अपने घर की सफाई कर के , पापा की घर की entrance पे लगाई गणेश की मूर्ती की पूजा करके या अपने सालों बाद अपने next door neighbour के घर जाके महसूस की है...बल्कि किसी कामयाबी से कहीं ज़्यादा ......

दो रोटी और सुख ही चाहिए था यार , नाम हम अक्सर उनको दिखाने के लिए कमाते हैं जिन्हें ये भी नहीं पता होता कि Facebook पर वो जिसकी wall पे birthday wish कर रहे हैं वो अब इस दुनिया में नहीं हैं और पैसा हम उतना कमाने में लगे रहते हैं जिसका सदुपयोग करने का टाइम ही नहीं मिलता जीते जी । ..... नाम और पैसा। ......नाम का ये आलम है की जिन्हें ये लगता है वे ख़ास बन गए हैं उन्हें कोई घर shift करते वक़्त bye कह भी दे तो फिर कभी ज़िन्दगी में याद नहीं करता , अपनों को भूलने का side effect है , और पैसों की ये माया है कि जो कागज़ की गड्डियों ने गाँव , शहर , माँ बाप , भाई बहन , दोस्त और हर जुड़ाव से परे कर दिया , अपने ही घर में बसने नहीं दिया ,उससे फिर हम कई और मकान खरीदते हैं जिनमें फिर कभी हमारा कोई अपना नहीं बसता। जिनके माँ बाप अपने माँ बाप को छोड़ आये थे , उनके बच्चे उन्हें छोड़ जाते हैं।बस अब यहीं चक्र है .... बिलकुल ये मंज़र है कि माँ बाप बच्चों को ऊँगली पकड़ के सपनों के स्टेशन तक ले जाते हैं , अपने सुख देके उन्हें महत्वकांक्षाओं का टिकट दिलवाते हैं , जीवन की एक सुनहरी ट्रैन आती है , बच्चे उसमें चढ़ते हैं और ख़ुशी से Bye कह देते हैं ,उन दोनों को ये सज़ा देके कि वे वहीँ खड़े रहें , और मरने तक उन बच्चों के लौटने का इंतज़ार करें ये जानते हुए कि वे जहाँ जा रहे हैं वहां से वापस आने की कोई ट्रैन नहीं।

It's important for all parents to understand success should be nothing but another name for joy ,आपके बच्चे को अपने घर में , अपने शहर और लोगों में , आपके साथ कोई संभावना ही नहीं दिखी खुश और संतुष्ट रहने की ,कि वो परायी जगह में परायों के बीच ख़ुशी ढूंढ रहा है ? इतने अधूरे थे आप ?..... ये कौनसे संस्कार हैं कि घर टूट गए , लोग अकेले हो गए , तुम मरोगे अपने बच्चों के बिना , वो तड़पेंगें अपने बच्चों के बिना ...... this is not a sustainable and stable model of a society , we need to understand money is just a medium of exchange ..... success is happiness however wherever , plz you don't impose it's agonizing and punishing meaning on your children, it's more foolish than being cruel.

1) AUDIO : When we create music the biggest process that makes it enjoyable is mixing ..... you just can't believe what rocket science and fuss it is to have your audio right ....people who are not from this field can't even imagine what detailing goes into making your sound right , music professionals make and mix songs with an accuracy of making a micro chip , with perfect studio monitors ,studios and several reference plugins and equipments , it takes them a life time to tame frequencies and reflection of sound and width of sound and bass and highs and stereo field of sound and phase of sound and level and loudness of sound and they monitor it at various levels in various environments , on various sound sources ......for days sometimes after innumerable corrections and edits .....NOT TO BE HEARD ON MOBILE SPEAKERS...... most mobile phones have one or mono speaker unless you put your earplugs,even if some company claims they have stereo speakers they are so close on the device that they make the stereo effect negligible ....music since the invent of stereo sound is supposed to create magical effects with the help of stereo sound by having separate sounds in left and right speakers or widening the sound or making the sound travel and we have again gone back before 1965-67 when stereo was introduced in India by listening to music which has mono effect, all of you who listen to music on mobiles don't even come to know or experience the illusion and interest that is created in each and every song with immense precision by placing the sound in separate channels ...... after the shooting is over sound engineers place and move sound in dolby according to the movement in the scene and painstakingly distribute them in as many as 128 places or channels as in the new Dolby atmos ....not even imagining that the sound that is supposed to come out of so many speakers in a theatre or in 5 or 7 speakers even in your home theatre would be coming out of one or two in your laptops ipads and phones. All the pain taken seems so useless when people you are doing it for do not even understand the difference.....or don't have means or inclination to experience it .....

2) VIDEO : We are using the most expensive lenses , cameras and equipment to give people the feel of clarity , depth and sharpness......it gives film makers a nightmare to assure what would be visible and distinct and they work on every detail in the film be it a property hanging on the wall behind actors some 20 feet away .... special effects people work on how much the sunlight should be in the scene or remove a small tv antenna seen in the shot or colour correct the horizon in the background or add a bird or two flying in the sky in some scene not to ever imagine that it would be seen on a mobile screen ......why do dress designers in movie work on every detail of a costume or jewellery or make up guys on a shade when art forms meant for theatre are enjoyed like aakaashwani radio dramas....

3) ART as ART IS NO MORE SALEABLE : Art ....if you still want to call it that has to be a saleable gimmick now......Youtube is a myth..... anything that goes viral is just an attention seeking jugaad or something interesting by fluke which was mostly not created as a creation, it has no formula ....not everybody can make adult humour, expensive music videos or pranks......neither can you be sure that every song that your child or watchman or parrot sings recorded with a mobile will go viral.... rest everything sculpture , painting , classical dance or literature is out of our blood , it has negligible viewers in comparison and we are not seeking them either ..... so although a painter does compile his work in a video and puts it on Youtube but unless you have millions of views repeatedly you can never have Youtube as a viable source of income ....not many know that even after lakhs lakhs of viewers you don't even get a single penny ..... it has to have millions of views , which are even bought openly now a days but thats a different matter how many want to fool themselves too besides viewers.Every song and every film is available on the net sooner or later , so we have no shops of legal audio video in towns any more as companies have stopped production of CDs and DVD's , they have starting claiming they are releasing it online because they know , even a kid now can make uncountable DVD's from one DVD at home.... no point .....so now one just cannot think of selling his art form and survive ,those who painted calendars or taught music or performed puppet or magic shows will have to shut shops forget about being popular ....... who will buy a painting for their wall if lakhs are available for free on the net ? Some sites did behave as agents claiming they can sell your work , by charging a fees , later did you realise that they are asking you for your own social networking to spread it and putting it everywhere , you yourself could have put ......Even videos on how to earn on Youtube are being made for more clicks for their own income ..... and the same person after some days makes a video , claiming he has new set of tips as old ones don't work anymore.....

4) ORIGINALITY : Now the biggest challenge is you never know whom to give credit for something, the creator or the compiler ..... if a shot looks good on screen no guarantee the film maker has himself shot it .....if an audio rhythm loop sounds good no guarantee it has been played .....for every original creator it's a foolish process to sit for hours creating something absolutely by himself when everybody else is churning out creations in which nothing is made by them they are just compiling pre made professional audio video and elements in various degrees to create something new , innumerable singers have become celebrities on Youtube by singing the songs of other singers, call it feat , version or remix .....we love them for something they did not create .....they copied it openly and shot a video on themselves so that when they put the name of the original singer or film in their video , they trick more viewers into their video who are searching for the original so basically it is like a creeper surviving on the original tree and the original tree gets sucked off its resources....

5) VIRAL FUNDA : Artists are god sent .....they make what they like , it is supposed to be self expression ......but now creators, I can't even call them artists ..... look around .....what is working ? and then worse copies of things going viral get created..... It's art now to find out what people are clicking on , so it's not what you want to create it's all about finding misleading or malicious or fake or weird ways to just make people click on your video .....and if those clicks are more ....it is an acknowledged video ......how many views ? what do you mean by that ? anybody can view anything .....if cow dung is lying on the road lakhs will watch it , that doesn't make it is a piece of cake ...... how does views matter, those who have clicked on your work because of an attention grabbing claim or content will click on it without even knowing your name so then how have you become popular ,they have just clicked on it , not fallen in love with you, don't fool yourself .....

6) WE HAVE NO CHOICE OF OUR OWN NOW : We are always clicking on shared links , we just watch what people are asking us to watch .... we have no mind or taste of our own, we have been forced to forget , Bharatnatyam , oddissi , or folk songs, or interviews of achievers in various other fields besides films and controversies ...... watch DD bharati someday and you will realise there is so much more that we wanted to see which is simple yet engrossing besides all the glitter and noise ......

7) LEARNING AND UPGRADATION LOOP : It is not only with teenagers about mobile phones and laptops.....it's even with artists.....they have fallen in the trap of upgrading themselves ,.... upgradation pushes you in two destructive ways.....one everything that you have mastered or learned with time to apply to your creations becomes incompatible or useless so all the time that you spent in learning and experimenting with one software or machine is made useless by the discontinuity of the existing operating and support system forcing you to upgrade,....which means more investment and secondly you will again buy or upgrade to something new spend time in upgrading everything else around it and again waste a major portion of your life in learning the new things that you have bought...when being able to learn a software or knowing what all buttons do has nothing to do with creation....People still writing poetry , concepts and plans in note books are always in a better position to use them whenever they want than people with 10 crashed hard disks lying in their shelves like dead bodies.....Technology we feel is enhancing art and other fields , it's a myth, art is stronger , in fact art has to use technology , here technology is dictating the nature, pace and content of artists ...

People are transforming into pirates , hackers , technicians, programmers , attention seekers but artists.

BOR CHORAS AND MY GRANDMOTHER !

My Granny finds it a little difficult to walk and breathe and work as much due to her age but she called me and other grandsons like every year because today is 'bor choras', ..... first chauth after Rakhi according to Hindu calendar....well I don't know about this,....this is what I tried to remember.I asked her why she does this , as I have asked her on several other occasions when she does a particular ritual and her answer has been...."mere sasural mein meri saas ye karti thin isliye main aaj tak kar rahi hoon bas....." 

At this age she is a mother , mother in law, grandmother and great grandmother but it is so beautiful to see that bahu still alive in her , the commitment that her heart made almost 70 years back to her new family she accepted is undeterred , for her sense of responsibility on the behalf of the members of her sasural who are no more in this world.... for a khandaan with all new generation that doesn't even know or expect any ritual from her , she takes all the initiative when she has to take a lot of effort to move much... remembers, arranges , invites and does the ritual with the limited strength she has , on a lighter note she says she does this ritual for sons as she does for girls on Rakhi feeling , for poor guys there is no occasion where they get any gift ,so she calls us just after Rakhi.... so we are given a hundred rupee note and a coconut , she puts a teeka on our forehead and blesses us loudly ,  iski rakhsha karna shiv baba ....... I can't help admiring her quietly ,when she tells us which hand to accept that coconut with , which direction to face while taking it , her honesty , her dedication for the family she entered as a bahu and her sense of responsibility seems like a myth....if you don't witness it . ......my mother kept following all rituals after my dad passed away for a year just because she felt this is what is done in her sasural ....when no one ever saw what she was doing ..... 

Want to make it clear to ladies I am not advocating women must follow these rituals ,they have every right to ignore them, I am specifically talking about these women for whom becoming a bahu was a much bigger and life changing commitment than just a marriage......It gives me goosebumps whenever I see grandmaa with so much respect keeping alive everything she saw her mother in law doing ......some may call it being conservative I call it khaandaniyat..... khaandaniyat ka paise aur rituals se bhi zyada discipline aur sense of belongingness se taalluk hai and these women are an institution, I sometimes feel the love and respect of a woman for her sasural is what truly makes her head of the family one day .....because this honest commitment is what makes her that deserving and great ....every year on this occasion I realise , to be a bahu is really greater than we could ever see in a movie or tv channel...... saas bahu is an out of this world phenomenon, that keeps this world rolling.

All busy... we leave one by one after taking that coconut back to work and she silently lies down again with a satisfaction that she could successfully keep alive the legacy and tradition of her sasural.....

If maa behens are enjoying maa behen gaalis , do you think men would ever want to be decent ?

Almost all my female co actors and friends are here on Facebook in my friends list ...... and today on a social platform I can very confidently (no more proudly) say that never ever till date in so many years of my career and life have I ever abused or cracked an indecent joke in front of any female co star or female friend..... it was a decorum that my mother taught me .... maa behen gaalis have a meaning that is like humiliating every woman your mothers and your sisters too... ( NOTE : If till here anybody is feeling I am trying to be a saint they can stop reading it now :) ), there is a protocol that men have to follow when ladies are around ,I believed....and this is the respect women tend to demand on the net all the time in all their shared posts..... now I see the same ladies laughing the loudest on maa behen gaalis and non veg jokes in any stand up comedy event, where performers openly use foul words and cheap jokes to a surprising change that female standup comedians in between their acts have also started using abusive words just to make people laugh ....besides the long list of women who fight for such events and claim that they did not find anything wrong with them to women who themselves abuse with their male friends which is very obviously to make interaction easy and feel comfortable in their company.... I feel begaani shaadi mein bekaar hi abdullah deewana ha ha .....I really feel so disappointed that I completely misunderstood the definition of respect and decorum for so many years, what I was taught doesn't hold true now ,I am just talking about myself here , just sharing the late realisation ....I have become so primitive in my approach it seems ...... just because one AIB on Youtube got away with it ....now there is a line of followers / jokers who feel they have found a way to succeed aping their over hyped role models by overdoing it, I feel together it will take them a lifetime to become a Kapil sharma or Raju shrivastav who can still make people roll on the floor laughing. with a decorum which suits a child or an 80 year old ...... they have range ..... and some prove they are good enough to be enclosed in a club of 'dying to be different' drunk self proclaimed liberals....When I see someone on stage using foul language in their act, I feel , it just shows how desperate they are to somehow manage to make something work either by shock or verbal violence ....desperate to be remembered ....I don't know but I am still very uncomfortable in such a place ....it hurts.... and yes an actor is saying that who has spent a major part of his life being in the most so called hep and cool and flamboyant and flashy and in and liberal profession and lifestyle .... I am not saying this out of ignorance ... I have seen more than many others.....staying away from my house for several years for work has at least made me wise enough to not feel that people enjoying it have any reason to stop it ....they have a different mindset , just that I really feel so lonely and silly surviving on beliefs that seem so pretentious today ..... it might be cool for everybody else but talking cheap can never be funny for me , ek indecent word in a public gathering by a performer aur mera mood off.... believe you me I am not proud of what I go through , in fact I find people so lucky who can abuse openly on any media without any inhibition of their parents and sisters and teachers and still are so unapologetic about it , may be they feel so liberated but ab jo bhi seekha hai badon se wo jaane mein mere jaise kuchh ajeeb logon ka ek janam nikal jata hai....main cool cool dude nahin ban paya shayad ..... log bahut aage nikal gaye hain , hum jaise shayad peechhe reh jaen par chalo jahan bhi pahunch jaen , itminaan kar lenge.
